ZZ Shelties is a small kennel located in Houston, Texas. I am the chief bottle washer, kennel help, trainer, and over all head of house hold. That is only one reason I keep it small. My dogs live in my home, it is their couch, sleep in my bed and enjoy life. They stay here until they go to heaven. Each dog gets all my attention, no matter if retired or in training.

I started in Obedience with my first Sheltie in the early 80’s earning several Titles. I taught Obedience for several years. Then in 2005 a friend talked me into trying dog Agility. Most of my dogs perform in Agility and have achieved several Agility Championships. My first breed Champion was in 2017 and recently two more plus a Grand Champion.

All my dogs are Certified Pet Therapy dogs. I am a AKC Certified CGC (Canine Good Citizen) Evaluator. I currently am the trainer for one of the wonderful Pet Therapy Groups in Houston. Faithful Paws of Houston.

 

My current love is Sheep Herding, two of my dogs have their herding titles.
I also board dogs in my home, which helps with the cost of showing almost every weekend in either Conformation, Agility, Obedience, Rally or Sheep Herding.

My breeding program is small. I study to see which match is best for the dogs. I look to see what the dogs are producing. I am breeding for quality, not quantity, wanting to produce Shelties that can « Do it All » and it all starts with the best structure you can achieve. A dog doing any performance without the proper foundation will break down eventually. I don’t want just a pretty dog or just a dog that performs. I want it All! And that is what I strive for.

I also want to help newcomers to the world of Shetland Sheepdogs. I am far from an expert but am willing to help with any knowledge I have. It all begins and ends with Love, with a lot of homework in between.
